Well you're partially right. This is a "newer" version of the MG42, the MG3.
This mashine gun is still in use in some countries. Hell of a weapon I assure you.

We use this, the Minimi and the MG4 as MG's in our armed forces.

Thatīs good stuff, dude. With the MG42 -or this newer version- you will have much less jam troubles than - for example - the M60 (that I do not know if still remains in use) or any ex-soviet era heavy iron ! Just in case , I wish you not be the one who must carry the MG42, those 9 Kgs. can be really annoying ! Take care ! Keep your ass safe and your weapon clean !

I Like your photos !

Thanks! Yeah I had my time with this mean piece of steel! I carried it for like 2 months before I became second in command and had the privilege of comanding the carrier insted. Man am I glad for that!

It's a very religable MG though the heavy weight. I was glad to have a 7.62 cal MG by my side.

Thank you very much kind sir :)

Word! When you hear it, your blood pressure drops instantly, and you just know it's a time to get the hell down in cover.
All respect to the machine gunner who manage to keep their calm under such situations.

I think its quiet harder for the tankgunner, when he runs out of ammo ;)

Yeah I know.
But I don't feel sorry for the people on the tank.
We have this internal fights between foot soldiers and the ones on wheels all the time.
It's silly really. We constantly argue. They can just relax in the tower with chips and coke,
while we have to run around with all the heavy gear, and they complain about little sleep and such.

We can never get along.

I was a tankgunner in the mechanised infantry ;) (SPz Marder 1A3)

There are some pros AND contras for being a gunner..
We do have a warm seat, not that much rain, can eat the whole day..
BUT we do have to stay awake every single minute..
We are awake, when we drive you around (while u can sleep)..
We are awake, when we support your groundfight
We are awake, when we observe during the night..

So everyone has his own problems ;)
But we cant fight without each other ;)

(and wtf..sometimes we have to pee in a bottle :wtf: )

Haha exactly.
Just what the guys here say too ;)

I know, we cant fight without each other.
We could, but than again we wouldn't be a mechanized infantry. Which kicks ass!

And the peeing on the bottle thing. Stinks.. Pooh in helmet... stinks even more. Gosh that my gunner is nasty lol!
