Nice assault rifle. Looks like the M4. Any difference between the two?

This is the Heckler & Koch HK416 or M416 as someone prefer it. It uses the same cartridge as the M4, but the rifle itself is a bit different from the AR-15 body. Doesn't jam as much as the colt. But not as good as the ancient G3 though :D

I see. Lol, the G3, my friend always thought of it as a badass weapon. Although, he did say it was kinda heavy to run around with it.

He is right. It is a bit heavy to use, especially in close quarters battle. We used MP7 and M9 for the close combat, and G3 and HK416 in woodland/desert.

Nevertheless; the G3 is badass ^^

No way, you are actually using HK 416/417???

Damn, should have signed up in NOrway!!!

lol maybe
well personally I like our G3 better. Much more smooth trier mechanism. And of course the 7.62mm is hell a lot more fun to shoot with than the 5.56mm. Besides the 416 tends to break all the time. It is very accurate though.

Thanks for the comment!

Hmm, well, i have to say that i never saw your version of the G3, and i´m a little bit into it! Served as airborne at the Divison of Special Operations in Germany! Whats your branch of service? We only had the combat versions of the G3, but yours looke way more improved!

But what do you mean with "416 tends to break all the time"... You mean it has ignition miss, or really break? Thats crazy! Thought HK improved the material every time! I used the G36 Combat with all the funny gadgetry! It never broke, even it`s chassis is made fully of Polycarbonate! But youre right with the 5,56mm , its gewgaw! Therefore the 417 might be fine!

Hope your not the MG 3 bearer! That sucks! ;)

Our G3 is a modified version, yes. It was updated in 2007 I believe and got the name AG3 F2.
I've surved as a Corpopral in the Assault Squadron in the Armoured Batallion, Norwegian Army. The Assault Squadron is mechanized infantry very much like the ones in you german Armoured Battalion 37. Except we have less homeland defence and more int.ops offence. We've trained for Anti-tank operation, CQB and Frontline offence with IFV's. Our platoon is very small, but one of the best trained in the whole country.
We deploy to ISAF in Afghanistan every other year.

And no I'm not a MG 3 bearer, thank god. Back when I was reqruiting I was, and it was hell. As lucky as I got I became second in command on my team, and later team commander :) The downside of it, I had to make sure everybodey on my team did what they were sopposed to do, insted of engaging the enemy myself. But it was an exoperiance. But I'm glad I'm done :)

Hey Simen, sry for the late response! Was a little bit in a rush because of vacation etc.!

Well, your G3 seems to me as the best solution! Good firepower and a reliable, modernised chasis!

I think your armoured battalion is way better trained then ours, because you have very much smaler groups and you have more special training in such groups! Armoured batallion in germany is like you said more specificated on homeland security! But we trained small groups of them in the same stuff you do, CQB, Urban Warfare, quick response etc. , to unburden our overcharged DSO!

I also was the MG3 bearer in my reqruiting time... Damn, i hate it so much dude! ;)But, i have to say, it supporting power is awesome, especially when it`s mounted on a pod cradle! ^^

Well, you climped up the ladder very impressive! It`s a big burden, i know, but it`s one of the most important experience you can get in live!

I`m glad to be done too, but sometimes it would be fun to do some stuff again! ;)

Thanks for the response, yeah I'm sure you have groups just like ours. You have like a thousand times bigger army than us, and a good one too. You know we use German tacs in Norway as well. You invented all the good ones lol :D

The MG3 is your best friend on the battlefield. Best MG out there as far as suppressive fire are concerned, in any case. Very reliable. It's German hardned steel after all 8-)

It would be awesome to be out for a short period of time yeah, but there is so much I don't miss, and I would rather spend my time with my family and my girlfriend. I believe you know what I mean.

Cheers mate

Do you mean the flag on the shoulder there?

Yes- sorry about the confusion. I suppose my comment would trigger questions even for someone who spoke English as their native tongue..

I mean how the flag is "backwards" on the shoulder, yes. I was just wondering if you did it for the same reason our military does- symbolizes that the soldier is moving forward and the flag is waving behind him or her.

Oh I see :)
Yeah I think so. That's what I've heard at least. That and that it's because the angle of the arm whilst aming with the riffle, wich makes the flag right. But I have not got anything confirmed with any of the officers. No one seems to know for sure XD

But I guess you're right. Seems logic as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks!

True that.
The HK416 exceptional in normal/hot climate. But the bolt easily freezes in cold conditions.
And I just can't get used to the trigger mechanism. But that's me though :)
